IT'S NEVER TO LATE
No matter what stage of life you are at or how old the children are, it is NEVER too late to choose adoption. You ALWAYS have options! We would love to chat with you about what's best for you and your child. Sometimes the right path is not always the easiest one - but we will be there every step of the way. Remember, this is the most UNSELFISH decision you will ever make!
THE PROCESS

You will speak and meet with one of our Social Workers. We will meet you where ever you are most comfortable. We will get to know you, hear your story, and what you're hoping for. You will get to know us. This does not mean you are committed to adoption, it just means you are exploring your options. At this meeting, you will learn all about adoption, the different types of adoption, and discuss other possibilities.
When you are ready to move ahead, your Social Worker will present you with profiles of waiting HOPEFUL families. You can take your time looking through, and learning, about each family. You CHOOSE the family for your child! You will learn of their values, lifestyle, location etc. Our families have all gone through an extensive screening process by our agency. You can be inspired about a life designed by YOU for your child.
We will begin to design your personal adoption plan. We will be there every step of the way. We offer free adoption-related counselling to help you to cope with all the emotions you may experience!
We will set up a meeting with you and the adoptive family (that you have chosen!). This is called a Match Meeting. We will help with first-time introductions and conversation. :)
We will help introduce your child to their new family. There will be some paperwork involved (we will talk more about that in person - boring stuff!). We will design a transitional plan for your child to join the new family. We will also help design your OPEN adoption agreement and CULTURAL CONNECTION PLAN (to ensure cultural practices are honoured). We will be here for you all the way through this.
A Social Worker will be meeting the new family, in their home, to ensure everyone is doing well. Eventually, we will file the adoption in Court (there is no need for you or anyone to be present in Court as adoptions are granted in a "closed court" for confidentiality and privacy due to the intimate matter). It can take a year or longer for an adoption to be granted in Court. We will let you know when this happens. We are still here for you!
